Useful answers to common problems
Here are some answers to frequently asked questions relative to Autodesk software. We hope these assist you to answer those awkward points we find are often asked by AutoCAd and Inventor users.
Q) How do I run Inventor 11 & Autocad on MS Vista?
A) Although the products are not supported on Vista, they can be run to emulate XP Pro SP2. Right click on the shortcut for the product, go to properties, go to compatibility, and select Win XP SP2. Also give it administrative rights by checking the box on the bottom of the page.
Q) How do I sketch from the origin in Inventor?
A) Using “Project Geometry” project the centre point from the origin folder onto your sketch. You can now snap to this origin point. This has the added benefit of giving visual feedback of constrained geometry on the sketch by changing the colour of the sketch elements that are fully constrained.
Q) How do I stop adaptive sketches being created when I project geometry within assemblies?
A) Before selecting geometry to project onto new part, press CTRL key then select geometry, this will stop adaptive sketch being created. You cannot, however, select a complete face, you must select individual geometry elements.
Q) Lost your Autocad dialog boxes?
A) Type CMDDIA on the command line and set the system variable CMDDIA to 1 and FILEDIA to 1 .
